This course examines the fundamentals of teaching through an exploration of topics such as reflective practice, classroom management, meaningful learning experiences, assessment, and the history of education. Practicum experience enabled us to start developing our teaching pedagogy and identities as educators. This course will benefit me as an educator because I will be able to use all the tools that I have learned in this class in my own classroom. It has equipped me to be able to manage and teach students in a classroom setting.

This course examines a variety of texts to determine their different beliefs and values. We were able to understand what the good life and the bad life were through the analysis of utopian and dystopian literature. This course will help me as an educator because it has taught me the value of using bloom's taxonomy for higher thinking processes. This will allow me to challenge the ways my students think and encourage them to think beyond the confines of a text.

This course focuses on achieving public speaking skills through oral presentations. The purpose of this class is to develop the ability to articulate ideas clearly and confidently to audiences of different sizes. Some of the speaking skills we have practiced are impromptu speaking, persuasive speaking, and informative speaking. This will help me as an educator because I will be speaking all day for the rest of my educational career. It is important that I am able to communicate the curriculum clearly, and this class has given me the skills to do so.

This course focuses on the reflection of the practicum experience. First-year educators have the opportunity to discuss some of their observations from practicum in a safe environment. They also have the opportunity to discuss how the classroom material is applying to their observations. This course will help me as an educator because it has helped me understand the value of collaboration with other colleagues in the field. They often have some great insight and recommendations I can use for my own practice.

This course focuses on writing at the university level. This is done through the analysis of different grammar topics and the best use of language. This course also taught us how to write about controversial subjects in an appropriate manner. This course will benefit me as an educator because I will be able to confidently teach students the mechanics associated with writing, and the use of appropriate grammar in their work.

This course examines teaching fundamentals through topics such as the philosophic roots of education, sociocultural teaching influences, and legalities associated with the profession. This course helped us to begin constructing our teaching philosophies. Practicum experience allowed us to teach a lesson to a class, which gave us an opportunity to implement many of the skills and teaching techniques we have learned. This course will help me as an educator because it has taught me how to create meaningful learning experiences for every student.

This course examines different areas that contribute to the development of a child. Some areas that we studied include physical abilities, cognitive processing, social capabilities, and different learning styles. This course will benefit me as an educator because I will be able to understand the developmental milestones for children of every age. This will help me choose appropriate classroom management techniques. It will also help me differentiate for some of the students too.

This course examines multiple religions around the world. It primarily focuses on the traditions and religious viewpoints of religions such as Catholicism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The course goal was to define the ultimate reality, which is the purpose of religion. This course will benefit me as an educator because it will allow me to understand the different viewpoints of others and how to be respectful of different cultures and beliefs.

This course examines a variety of literature that was composed after the nineteenth century. It also analyzes different types of writing such as poetry, drama, and scripts. This course concerns itself with identifying themes within the literature, as well as different elements of fiction. This course will benefit me as an educator because it has taught me how to analyze different texts in pieces to better understand the structure. This will be a beneficial skill to teach my students, so they can learn the fundamentals of writing.

This course examines a variety of basic math and science principles. It investigates the intersection of the two subjects through real-life examples. Some of the topics math topics discussed in this course include logic number systems, finance, and statistics. Some of the science topics discussed in this course include natural disasters, infectious diseases, and energy. This course focuses on literacy development in children. Three theoretical perspectives on literacy are examined in this course: The bottom-up perspective, top-down perspective, and balanced literacy. Benchmarks for literacy development are discussed, and different language acquisition theories from theorists like Bruner and Vygotsky are analyzed. Different strategies to support literacy development are also taught throughout this course. This course will benefit me as an educator because it has provided me with many different tools and strategies that I can use in my classroom to support literacy development. It has also helped me feel better prepared to teach students who struggle with reading and writing.

This course teaches educators about a variety of different technological tools they can use in their classroom to enhance their teaching practices and provide different approaches to learning. The effective use of social media and Microsoft office are just a few of the different skills taught in this course. In addition, different a variety of different Google and video tools have been introduced throughout this course. This course will benefit me as an educator because it has taught me a variety of ways that technology can be implemented to enhance student understanding in the classroom. It has also taught me how to integrate higher-level learning in technology-based activities.

This course examines a variety of literature that is based on different groups and societies. Difficult topics that appear in the readings are discussed thoroughly throughout the course. These topics include the death penalty, racial injustices, and the systematic mistreatment of Indigenous people. As an educator, this course will benefit me in several ways. This course has allowed me to understand many of the injustices that marginalized groups encounter on a regular basis, and this will help me better understand what my students are going through outside of their education. This course has also equipped me with the tools to facilitate respectful conversations about troublesome topics as they arise.

This course examines morality, virtue, and ethics. More specifically, it examines what morality is and what moral rules should guide our lives. The consequences of these moral rules are also discussed in detail throughout the course. Theories from famous philosophers like Aristotle and Immanuel Kant are also shared as morality is examined. Value theory, normative ethics, and metaethics are the three different branches of ethics that are examined to determine moral standards. This course will benefit me as an educator because it has taught me to analyze my moral standards and determine which ones are best suited for my teaching pedagogy.

This course focuses on the athletic development of children and learning different age-appropriate ways to encourage healthy movement and life-long physical literacy. It also examines how different physical education games can be adapted to meet the needs of each group of students. This course will benefit me as an educator because it has taught me the skills that I need to lead a physical education activity in a safe and effective manner. It has also taught me how to accommodate varied group sizes, injuries, and differently-abled students. It has equipped me with an arsenal of different games that support the development of fundamental movement skills, which is an important part of the physical education curriculum.

This course examines the development of Canadian society after Confederation in 1867. Some of the different topics that are discussed in this course are the National Policy, numbered treaties, first and second world wars, and Indigenous affairs. This course also analyzes several important figures in Canadian history such as John. A Macdonald, Wilfred Laurier, and Louis Riel. This course will benefit me as an educator because it has improved my foundational knowledge of Canadian history. This knowledge will enable me to teach the social studies curriculum better and in a way that my students will understand.

This course focuses on providing educators with the skills and knowledge necessary to teach English Language Arts in an elementary school classroom. This course is designed to inform educators on how they can thoughtfully and respectfully teach information about First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people in their classrooms. This course discussed topics such as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, residential schools, and missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. Educators in this course were also given opportunities to learn more about sharing circles, smudging, and the four teachings associated with the Medicine Wheel. Opportunities were also provided to read 21 Things you May Not Know About the Indian Act and participate in an ATA workshop called Indigenous Content in the New Teaching Quality Standard: Moving from Inspiring to Requiring. This course has provided me with many different resource I can use to when I am teaching my students about Indigenous perspectives and knowledge.

This course focuses on providing educators with the tools and knowledge they will need to successfully teach the science curriculum from the Alberta Program of Studies. Some of the topics that were addressed in this course include unit planning, lesson planning, and experiential learning through community classrooms. The scientific method, focused inquiry, provocation, and the question formulation technique were also explained during this course too. This course has taught me how I can teach science in a way that encourages students to investigate and inquire into different topics. It has also taught me how to conduct meaningful experiments within the classroom.

This course focuses on teaching educators how to teach math effectively in the classroom. Educators are taught about the Essential Six: Math writing, math with the teacher, math with others, math by myself, math games, and math with manipulatives/technology. This course also focused on improving educators' foundational knowledge of many different topics through hands-on learning. Educators were given opportunities to handle a variety of manipulatives such as cards, dice, geometric sets, pattern blocks, base ten blocks, dominoes, and interlocking cubes. This course has taught me how I can encourage students to have a growth mindset towards mathematics and plan for instruction that is engaging for all students.

This course examines the way that the human body is constructed and how all of the different systems work. Some of the different body systems that we learned were the endocrine system, the nervous system, and the musculoskeletal system. We also learned about the diseases and disorders associated with each system. This will benefit me as an educator because it has given me a greater understanding of the human body. This will be helpful when I am teaching science courses; I will be able to answer the questions of my students confidently.

This course focuses on examining and understanding statistics and statistical data. Some of the different topics explored in this course are probability, variables, and hypothesis testing. This class focused on solving biological and medical problems through the use of statistical data. This course will benefit me as an educator because it has helped me understand numbers and how numbers can be applied to different life situations.

This course examines difficult medical decisions made in the health care field such as abortion and euthanasia. Class discussions were often conducted about the morality of these decisions and the ethics of these choices. This class will benefit me as an educator because it has taught me how to lead healthy discussions about challenging topics. This will be valuable in the classroom as we learn difficult areas of the curriculum, which could be troubling to some of the students.

This course examines the role of nutrition in our everyday lives. Some of the topics that are focused on throughout the course are bodily health and physical fitness. Diseases caused by poor nutrition are also discussed throughout this course. This class will help me as an educator because it has taught me healthy nutrition habits. This will allow me to teach my students to make nutritious decisions in their own lives. It will also guide me in choosing the type of food I give to students to fuel their brains in the classroom.

This course focuses on the instructional fundamentals that are necessary for teaching kinesiology and physical education. This course examines the different leadership methods and communication skills that can be used when instructing fitness programming. Teaching fitness lesson plans were a priority in the lab portion of this course. This course will help me as an educator because it has taught me how to create effective lesson plans for physical education classes.

This course examines life on a cellular level. Some of the topics covered in this course are genetics and biochemistry. Viruses, bacteria, fungi, and protists are analyzed for their structure and function. This course will benefit me as an educator because it has taught me valuable scientific knowledge. I can use this knowledge when teaching science courses. This course has also taught me healthy study habits that I can teach to my students too.

This course examines the various principles of psychology. It investigates terminology, major theories, and psychological procedures. It also outlines different psychological disorders that can occur. This course will benefit me as a teacher because it has taught me a lot about mental health and behaviour. This will help me better understand some of the psychological challenges that my students could be facing in the classroom.

This course examines general health concepts such as physical exercise, nutrition, and mental health. This class was also paired with a lab, which focused on the correct movements of exercise. The goal of this portion of the class was to teach us physical literacy. This class will benefit me as an educator because it has taught me health and wellness skills that I can teach my students in my classroom. This will allow them to make healthy decisions both inside and outside of the classroom.

This course examines the tools and skills necessary to organize and successfully teach sports in a physical education program. Some of the different topics taught through this class were sport management, leadership, team building, and athletic development. This course will benefit me as an educator because it has equipped me with the skills necessary to conduct sports in a safe and inclusive manner. It has also taught me how to be a leader in a busy classroom environment.
