Teaching Philosophy
Transparency
I believe that every student should be treated with respect and dignity regardless of their academic performance or behaviour. Parents, administration, and other allied professionals play an important role in each student's success, so I am committed to maintaining open and active communication with all relevant educational stakeholders to ensure the needs of each student are met.

E
Equity
I recognize that every student is unique, and they all require support in different ways to learn. As an educator, I am committed to understanding how to cater to the needs of all students and differentiating the content, product, process, or learning environment as necessary for each student. Catering to a variety of different learning styles will ensure that learning is equitable for all.
A
Accessibility
I believe that learning should be accessible for every student. To reduce barriers to success, I plan to integrate technology to support and scaffold learning where it is possible. I am also committed to using flexible seating options, visual aids, kinesthetic aids, and manipulatives to supplement learning and help create an optimal learning environment for every child.

Collaborative Inquiry
I believe that collaborative learning strategies are an excellent way to enhance student learning. In my classroom, I plan to frequently use Kagan Cooperative Learning Structures hep students build their understanding, express themselves creatively, and develop their interpersonal skills. Using group project-based learning is another way I plan to integrate collaborative inquiry into my teaching practice.
7 Habits
I believe that a healthy classroom community plays an important role in the learning and development of each child. As an educator, I plan to implement and teach the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People (Stephen Covey) in my classroom to create a positive learning environment for all. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People are:
1. Be Proactive 5. Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood
2. Begin with the End in Mind 6. Synergize
3. Put First Things First 7. Sharpen the Saw
4. Sharpen the Saw
E
Experiential Learning
I believe in creating meaningful and intentional learning experiences for every student. Where it is possible, I try to find opportunities for my students to make real-world connections linked to the curricular objectives through realistic examples or chances to extend their learning beyond the walls of the classroom. I believe that learning should equip students for life, and it my job as an educator to show students how their learning prepares them for their future.

Reflective Practice
As an educator, I am committed to engaging in career-long learning to make improvements in my instructional and classroom management techniques to refine my teaching practice. To ensure that my students have the best learning experience, I will regularly reflect on my teaching to look for new ways to improve. Additionally, I will continue to explore research-based teaching techniques to inform my practice and look for new professional development opportunities.
