This is a book library about Ramadan that I used in my classroom to teach my students about the practices, beliefs, and traditions that exist in different cultures. My fourth-year practicum classroom was culturally diverse, so it was important that I made all of my students feel welcomed, represented, and included. We read several of these books together as a class to learn more about the Islamic calendar.

The Teaching Quality Standard states:
4. A teacher establishes, promotes, and sustains inclusive learning environments where diversity is embraced and every student is welcomed, cared for, respected, and safe.
​
This artifact shows my commitment to creating a safe space for all students to feel accepted. Celebrating differences helps create a healthy classroom community where all students feel empowered and visible. Creating meaningful learning opportunities for my students to expand their worldview shows my dedication to being inclusive for all.

This is a Google Form that I created for my students while we were doing our novel study of the book "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler." This Google Form asks the students to complete a series of reading comprehension questions to demonstrate their understanding of the novel. This form is the differentiated version, which means that it does not contain any written response questions.

This artifact shows my ability to identify to create an inclusive learning environment to match the abilities of all my students in my classroom. Every student understands concepts and ideas differently. Creating two versions of the Google Form allowed me to target the beginning/developing students in my classroom. This multiple-choice form allowed them to relay their knowledge, but it did not require them to partake in the same process as the achieving or exceeding learners. Committing to continuous differentiation demonstrates my desire to create a healthy classroom environment that encourages every student to reach their full potential.
